Sport & PE

At Dederang Primary School students participate in daily 30 minute physical education classes. Our goal is to provide ongoing opportunities for students to practise and apply the knowledge, understanding and skills in sport and games while maintaining and enhancing their own and others’ health and wellbeing.

In addition to our daily PE lessons, the school offers:

  • Swimming lessons for Foundation to Year 6 students. Emphasis in term 1 is on stroke development and water confidence. Further sessions are taken in term 4 with an emphasis on water safety and survival.
  • Skiing – Year 3 – 6 students are able to go skiing in Term 3. They initially participate in a cross country program and are subsequently able to elect also to experience downhill skiing. The children are transported by bus. Dederang Primary School participates where possible with our cluster schools to deliver an exhilarating ski program. Parents are able to assist if space allows on the bus. We hold a whole school excursion to the snow every two years.
  • Inter School Sports Days – Year 3 – 6 students participate in cluster swimming and athletics sporting opportunities, allowing students the opportunities to progress to zone. We also offer students the opportunity to participate in Winter Sports Day, Cross Country Runs, and some team sports at various times. On occasions parents will be asked to arrange transport of their children to and from these sports activities.
  • Expert instruction and equipment from external providers.
